2011 AGM President's Report
This past year has once again proven to be both an exciting and challenging one for our club. As we know the biggest thing for the facility in the last year was the hosting of our first state titles. Officially it was a Dublin meeting but I was exceptionally proud of the way everybody came together to make it happen.
We of course will never forget the monumental effort by a few of our members in the lead up to the event either. It began a few months before with the commencement of our concrete In and Out grids. Whilst sourcing weigh sheds for the grids we learned that a large shed was available that would be the perfect size for a toilet block. Obtaining this shed required the biggest army of members we have had to date to deconstruct it after the Royal Adelaide Show.
The plan was always to get the toilet block in place prior to the states and I am once again proud to say that goal was achieved. I normally don’t like to name names in my reports but I am still in awe of the work that went into that building by Michael and Bill. On behalf of all of our members, Thank you.
I must also mention the massive effort that Greg put in in the lead up to the state titles and indeed continues to put in today.
It was these efforts combined with those of everyone that helped out that made the 2010 State Titles so successful. I honestly have heard nothing but positive feedback and many people are looking forward to returning in 2011.
Our focus is now turned towards the latter part of this year. Over a space of just 12 weekends the facility will be hosting 5 race meetings the biggest of which is of course the 2011 state titles. This will once again require a big effort but I, as I am sure you all are looking forward to yet another challenge.
As you will also by now know, this years state titles received a massive boost when an agreement between our club and Remo Racing was reached to hold the IAME National Final in conjunction with the event. This is a testament to all of the work that has gone into this facility. Just four years after the facility was an empty paddock, it has been deemed worthy of hosting this national event. Those are Remo’s own words as can be seem in the short video on the home page of our website.
In conclusion I again want to say thank you. Thank you to every one that has helped in any way over this past year. Thank you to everyone that has helped and supported me in my role as president. And thank you to the rest of my committee. I couldn’t do it without you!
